Dear Haeften family members: Over a year has gone by since our last gathering. It is time to take a walk on the path of our family’s history and to meet to enjoy some lovely conversations and a lively gathering. We would like to invite you to our next family reunion which will take place at and around Xanten (Wesel District), in the Lower Rhine region, on 28 to 30 September, 2012. Why Xanten? After walking down the Dutch path of the family at our last gathering, this time we will travel back in time to the origins of the German Haeftens. The Erprath Estate at Xanten, the main residence for some of the German Haeftens until 1879, which is still inhabited, is at the center of this. The agenda also includes a visit to the city of Goch where we will see the ruins of the Kalbeck Estate, the Xanten Cemetery with preserved family tombstones, as well as the castle grounds of the Estate of the Fürstenbergs, a family the Haeftens were related to …

Agenda Family Meeting in 2012 – English

Family Meeting – Programme for Friday Arrival and, depending on participants’ interest, casual meeting at Hotel Fürstenberger Hof. Saturday Morning: Trip to Goch, visit to the City Archives, introduction to weekend and places to be visited (Goch, Erprath Family Estate, Kalbeck Estate) Lunch close to Kalbeck Estate, followed by archaeological tracking. Return to Hotel, Break. Possible walk through castle grounds at Fürstenberg Estate Late afternoon: Short driving tour of Xanten with emphasis on Erprath & cemetery Evening: Festive dinner at Hotel Fürstenberger Hof Sunday In the morning, we are offering two alternatives: For any interested participant: conference and workshop on family topics (genealogy, creation of family club, Internet presence, etc.) Another detailed visit of Xanten with its cathedral or the impressive excavations dating back to Roman times can be arranged parallel to the conference Around noon, we will have a closing and farewell ceremony at Hotel Fürstenberger Hof. ​Einladung zum Haeften-Treffen 2012 in Xanten (Niederrhein)

Liebe Mitglieder der Familie Haeften, seit unserem letzten Treffen ist mehr als ein Jahr vergangen. Es wird Zeit, wieder auf den Spuren der Familiengeschichte zu wandeln und sich für schöne Gespräche und ein heiteres Zusammensein zu treffen! Hiermit möchten wir Euch zum nächsten Familientreffen einladen: Es wird am Wochenende vom 28. – 30. September 2012 in und um Xanten (Kreis Wesel) am Niederrhein stattfinden. Warum Xanten? Nachdem wir das letzte Mal auf den holländischen Spuren der Familie gewandelt sind, begeben wir uns dieses Mal in die Zeit der Ursprünge der deutschen Haeftens. Im Mittelpunkt steht das Haus Erprath in Xanten, das der Hauptsitz eines Teils der deutschen Haeftens bis 1879 war und das heute noch bewohnt wird. Auf dem Programm steht ferner ein Besuch der Stadt Goch mit den Ruinen des Hauses Kalbeck, der Xantener Friedhof mit erhaltenen Grabsteinen der Familie sowie der Schlosspark des Hauses Fürstenberg, mit dem die Haeftens verschwägert waren.
